Frequently Asked Questions

Are these “magic mushrooms”?

No. Our mushrooms are non-psychoactive functional mushrooms, meaning they will not make you hallucinate or feel “high.”

They’ve been used traditionally for centuries in practices like Traditional Chinese Medicine to support things like focus, stress resilience, immunity, energy, and overall wellbeing.

Different mushroom, different purpose.

What does “dual-extracted” mean?

Mushrooms contain different beneficial compounds that dissolve in different ways.

A dual extraction uses both hot water and alcohol extraction to pull out a wider range of active compounds, including beta-glucans and triterpenes.

In simple terms: it helps make the mushrooms more bioavailable and effective than just consuming raw mushroom powder alone.

What does “fruiting body” mean?

The fruiting body is the actual mushroom itself, not the root-like filler material it grows on.

Some low-quality mushroom products mainly contain mycelium grown on grain, which can dilute the final product with starch. We use fruiting body extracts for a more potent and concentrated product.

Where are your mushrooms from?

Our mushrooms are sourced from specialised mushroom producers in China.

China has one of the longest histories of medicinal mushroom cultivation in the world and remains the global leader in functional mushroom production and extraction.

We spent years testing different suppliers before choosing our current partner, focusing on quality, purity, extraction methods, and consistency.

Why aren’t the mushrooms from Sri Lanka?

Functional mushroom extraction is still a very specialised industry. While Sri Lanka has incredible herbs and spices, large-scale medicinal mushroom cultivation and dual extraction technology are still limited locally.

Rather than pretending otherwise, we chose to source from experts with decades of experience in medicinal mushrooms.

Are your mushroom powders safe?

Yes. Our mushrooms are tested for purity and sourced from experienced producers specialising in functional mushroom extracts.

We only use mushrooms intended for human consumption and avoid any fillers, additives, colours, or artificial flavourings.

What do mushroom powders taste like?

Earthy, slightly bitter, and grounding.

Some people love the taste immediately, others prefer mixing them into coffee, hot chocolate, smoothies, chai, or plant milk. Chaga and reishi are deeper and richer, while lion’s mane is usually milder.

How do I use them?

The easiest way is to mix 1 teaspoon into:

  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Hot chocolate
  • Smoothies
  • Matcha
  • Warm plant milk
  • Soups or broths

You don’t need fancy recipes. Most people simply build them into existing daily rituals.

When should I take them?

It depends on the mushroom.

  • lion’s mane → often taken in the morning or during work for focus
  • cordyceps → before workouts, surfing, long days, or social nights
  • reishi → afternoon or evening for a calmer vibe
  • chaga → morning or midday as a grounding daily tonic

That said, there are no strict rules. Consistency matters more than perfection.

Will I feel something immediately?

Usually not in the way caffeine or alcohol works. Functional mushrooms tend to work more subtly and cumulatively.

Some people notice changes quickly, especially with focus or energy, while others notice the effects more over time through consistent use.

Think less “instant hit,” more long-term nervous system support.

Can I take them every day?

Yes. Functional mushrooms are traditionally used as daily wellness support rather than occasional supplements.

Many people take them daily for weeks or months as part of a routine.

Can I combine different mushrooms?

Absolutely. Mushrooms are often combined because their effects complement each other.

For example:

  • lion’s mane + cordyceps for focus and energy
  • reishi + chaga for grounding and stress support

Our Fungi Fuel blend already combines several mushrooms into one daily mix.

Are these vegan?

Yes. All of our mushroom powders are vegan-friendly.

Do they contain caffeine?

No. Our mushroom powders are naturally caffeine-free.

Some people combine them with coffee or matcha for a calmer, steadier effect.

I’ve never tried mushrooms like this before. Which one should I start with?

A good starting point is:

  • lion’s mane for focus and studying
  • reishi for stress and sleep support
  • cordyceps for energy and movement
  • chaga for general daily wellbeing
  • Fungi Fuel if you want an all-round blend

Or honestly, start with the one you feel drawn to. That usually works too.

Time Tested Ancient Remedies

Medicinal mushrooms have been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine and other traditional healing systems. Reishi was historically referred to as the “mushroom of immortality,” while cordyceps and lion’s mane were traditionally used to support energy, cognitive function, resilience, and overall vitality.

Modern research has identified compounds like beta-glucans, triterpenes, and erinacines as some of the key bioactive compounds behind these mushrooms’ effects. Because many of these compounds are extracted differently, we use dual-extracted fruiting body mushrooms to create a more potent and bioavailable product.

No fillers, no grain-heavy mycelium powders, no additives. Just concentrated functional mushrooms with a long history of traditional use and growing scientific interest.
