Nature's Antidote was founded by Lien Uten, a surfer and biochemical engineer from Belgium with a deep connection to the earth and a passion for natural living. With a master's degree in biochemical engineering, Lien was poised for a career in the food or pharmaceutical industry. However, her upbringing in a family that embraced homeopathy, an alternative form of medicine, instilled in her a belief that true wellness comes from supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself. This belief, shaped by her grandfather, a homeopathic doctor, ultimately led her away from a conventional career in pharmaceuticals.

After completing her studies, uncertain of the path to take, Lien decided to travel to Asia. There, she discovered Ayurveda, the Eastern counterpart to homeopathy. Although distinct in their remedies, both Ayurveda and homeopathy share a common principle: supporting the body to maintain health and heal naturally. This discovery deepened her understanding of alternative medicine and resonated with her personal values.

In 2020, driven by her lifelong passion for surfing, Lien traveled to Sri Lanka, intending to stay for just a month. However, the beautiful waves, vibrant culture, and connection to nature captivated her, and that month-long vacation turned into living in Sri Lanka for almost five years now.
